How dates are given: from 15 October 1582 all dates are Gregorian. Earlier dates are Julian, as the sources give them. Where a source gives a Japanese lunar date, it was converted with the NAOJ Japanese Calendar Database (based on Uchida Masao, Nihon rekijitsu genten) and the conversion is shown under Source. Feast days follow the calendar of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Japan. Uncertain dates carry a label: Tradition, Unverified or Disputed. Items known only to the month are kept out of this calendar.
